This is the first project in the country to take up tank rehabilitation on such a large scale. The approach is not to just rehabilitate the tank and its systems, but to build and strengthen the local community institutions to take up the responsibility of taking up this project.

• The tanks should be for irrigation purpose.

• The command area should not be less than 4 Ha and not more than 2000 Ha.

• During the last 10 years, the tank should have been filled at least 2 times.
