The tanks should be for
irrigation purpose.
-
The command area should
not be less than 4 Ha and not more than 2000 Ha.

During the last 10 years,
the tank should have been filled at least 2 times.

The individual tank users
should be willing to contribute 12 percent of the
estimated cost of the “Integrated Tank development Plan”.
Six percent contribution is to be in cash and another six
percent could be in cash or kind (materials or labour
contribution for the tanks development).

Consent of the users (Gram
Sabha) to take up the tank for maintenance and for water
management after it is developed.
-
It should not be a system
tank- tank should not be fed from canals of major and
medium tank projects.
-
It should not be privately
owned water tank.
