Best Practices

Nursery raising by women interest group. Hagari Bommanahalli is one of the taluk in bellary district which has a village called Mugimavinahalli. This JSYS project was launched in the village. Under the plan women SHG’ took up nursery raising in the fresher area of the tank. Beginning women approached the Forest Department and met the concerned officials to choose the species required for plantation. Then women took up the responsibility of digging the pits for plantation and planted 1500 nurseries. The greatest achievement is that though men from the village discouraged the women, women took as a challenge and successfully did the plantation and none took up the responsibility of looking after in the future too.
