The project communication effort have been made at all levels of the Project towards achieving two crucial goals viz.
(1) Behaviour change
(2) Information component.
To address these goals of the project the various activities related to communication have been carried at DPU, CFT and TMI levels. The media, advocacy and documentation unit at SPU is the headed by Communication Specialist to co-ordinate with all Stakeholders as strategies of communication of the project. In turn, DPU has been co-ordinating with TMI’s through concerned CFTs by close inter linking for capacity building of the community. To enable all the tank users to participate effectively in the process of institutional functioning, planning and execution of ITDPs and also to build post-project management capabilities, the following communication and information, dissemination materials have been developed.

It is worthwhile to mention that the project has received first prize in the Asia Level Photo Contest conducted by the World Bank in December 05. Another important highlight is that, the project has received intensive media coverage in the past two years. Series of media tours along with various Media person have been conducted in the project districts, including both print and electronic media to brought out the reach larger mass. The success stories and best practices have received wide coverage in the media, which has positively helped the project in creating enable atmosphere at all levels.

Report on works done during the period of June 2006 to May 2007.

I have been working with the project since 3 years at various levels as a Communication Specialist (1 ½ Year DPU Hospete, Raichur, Bagalkote) and since one and half year I am looking after the Media, Advocacy and Documentation in the project. During the period of June 2006 to May 2007, I have achieved the following progress under the component.

  • volved the strategy of communication.
  • Achieved better coordination with media and enable to publicise the success stories of the project
  • Brought out the news letters (quarterly) in time on success of the project with coordination of all project staff and ensured the circulations to all stakeholders
  • Brought out the interactive CDs on four components of the project with the support of external documentation agency which will be most effective for carrying out trainings for TUGs.
  • “Kere Nirvahana Kaipidi” – Kannada Manual is being brought out with the coordination of all the specialists of the SPU.
  • As the requirement of the project, I had coordinated to bring the year calendar, greetings and pocket dairies for the year 2006 and 2007
  • I have been involved in facilitating the field visits of World Bank review missions and other supervisory teams.
  • Coordinated the meetings for presentation with effective audio – visual arrangements and facilities.
  • Involved in production of required reports with effective designs for submission to EC, GC and World Bank teams.
  • For effective dissemination of project informations and achievements I have been involved in arranging exhibitions with the coordination of field teams.
  • I have been involved in compilation of ITDPs at SPU and news paper cuttings published in various national and regional news papers.
  • Component module is being worked out for fallow on project and involved in various preparatory process of the fallow on project.
  • As assigned by the Executive Director I have been discharging my services as District Facilitation Officer for effective implementation of the project in Kolar District.
  • As over all responsibility of the Media, Advocacy and Documentation under guidance the higher authorities of the project I have been involved in preparation of progress reports and submission of reports in time.
  • I have been facilitating the works nearer to completion such as “Success Stories of JSYS Project” in coordination with CDL consultants and Interactive CDs with Vision World consultants with the coordination of component wise specialists.
