Agriculture Demonstrations
The demonstrations would be conducted for each of the proposed tank clusters (average of 40 tanks per cluster), based on a total of 2 on-farm water management (OFWM), 2 arable crop, and 1 horticulture crop demonstrations, improved fodder development demonstrations per year, over a two-year period following tank rehabilitation. Unit demonstration costs are based on total estimated costs to cover input materials for demonstrations for one year for two seasons, plus field and supervisory salaries and other staff costs plus organisational overheads. Total estimated cost of water management demonstration to cover input materials for two years for four seasons along with field, supervisory salaries, other costs plus organisational overheads.

Demonstrations for field crops would cover five ha and for horticultural crops, they would cover two ha, and OFWM would cover 10 ha. The demonstrations for Improved Fodder would cover 1 ha. The selected farmers would provide all labour components free of cost and inputs would be provided by the project. Field days in consultation with Agriculture, SPU wing needs to be organised effectively to enhance the spread of the agriculture technologies within the approved unit cost.

In view of increasing demand for fodder for livestock rearing, it is necessary to achieve higher productivity levels of fodder per unit of area. The project would support 40 new Fodder Demonstrations in selected tanks/taluks to popularise cultivation of fodder using improved practices.
